Eye é City – A Visual Account of the Last 24 Hours of 2009 Exhibition
Eye é City, a non-profit organization that promotes the preservation of memories belonging to modern day Singapore, will present photographs from its annual flagship event, A Visual Account of the Last 24 Hours of 2009, in a roving exhibition from 1 August 2010 to 28 August 2010.
The black and white photography exhibition will kick off on 1 August at The Substation and will run till 10 August before moving to Jurong Regional Library for its final show from 11 August till 28 August. Admission to the exhibition at both venues is free.
The photography exhibition is a culmination of the best works received in the 24-hour event that aims to raise awareness and concern for the society through a collective photographic documentation of Singapore’s extraordinary, everyday and the mundane. Featuring more than 50 black and white photographs, the show will appeal to all ages because of the wide-ranging topics that were documented by ordinary folks from all over the city.
“Our society is changing rapidly in all aspects as Singapore continues to grow and mature in this globalized era,” said Mr Lee Chee Ming, Head Organizer of Eye é City 2009 Committee. “With that, memories of the society we live, play and work in become even more important. We hope this exhibition can truly inspire viewers to show a greater interest and compassion to our society.”
A Visual Account of the Last 24 Hours has become a yearly platform for individuals to make a statement on the current state of the society and her people. This year’s collection of photographs will also make its way into a book, slated for release at the end of the year.

About Eye é City
Eye é City – A Visual Account of the Last 24 Hours is an annual event with the aim to preserve the memories of Singapore through the eyes of ordinary individuals via photography. Since 2002, event participants from all walks of life have dedicated their last 24 hours of the year to photograph images of the island and her people. The pictures are valid documentation of the ever-changing social and urban landscapes of Singapore, and collectively serve as an urgent reminder to preserve the island city’s national heritage. The best works representing each year are exhibited and subsequently published in a book.
Eye é City is a registered non-profit society led by a group of avid volunteers. For more information about Eye é City, visit http://eyeecity.multiply.com or email eyeecity@yahoo.com.
