Michael Jackson Tribute - Stockholm. July 8, 2009

These are two performances made at Segels Torg and the Central Station (a third installment is planned to happen at Stureplan at 23.00 tonight).

The dance collective Bounce came up with the idea and invited the public to a short choreographed session before hitting the streets.

A flash mob (or flashmob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails. The term is generally not applied to events organized by public relations firms or as publicity stunts.

  1. This is the official clip from BOUNCE & Friends. More than 300 dancers met at 15.30, got informed and then
learned the choreography in 30 min. Less then 1 hour later they performed it.

  3. no i m not. but i like this installation best cos the begining and the end was seamless and so neat compared wif the rest of the MJ tribute.

    比起其他的懷念MJ的活動,喜歡這行動藝術因為開始和結束都很乾脆俐落。

  4. Thanks for sharing Ang. For a moment, I thought it was these Michael Jackson fans dancing together on spontaneity, but in fact, they are a super huge group of dancers who unexpectedly start to dance to Michael's song, Beat It!. The overall wider view is spectacular and overwhelming, if I'm using the right words to describe the whole scene. If I remember correctly, there used to be a small dancing group in Singapore who danced together outside Orchard major malls a couple of years back. Interesting and creative as well. :)

  5. this involve a lot of preparation and acording to the original youtube site, it was a short choreographed b4 they hit the street. at least a pre-prepared sound system is needed. (loud enough for evevyone. look at the following taiwan flash mob. there is this guy carrying a white speaker for the sound. it is not as cool as the original stockholm one.) the 2nd dance in the following video even look like a garthered party which they admited that in their youtube site.
